Job Description

The role holder is responsible for leading and executing the strategies for Liquidity Management, Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP), Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB), thereby ensuring proper management of the balance sheet and sufficient funding to meet changes in market liquidity. The role holder is also responsible for generating a healthy and stable net interest income (NII) through engagement and contribute to the asset & liability management committee (ALCO). The role holder is also responsible for supporting the bank’s strategies and initiatives to provide an effective and engaging digital customer onboarding experience, expand the agent and merchant networks, and drive the usage of mobile and digital applications, in order to achieve economic and social development in Myanmar through nation-wide financial inclusion

 

  • Leads the development of relevant policies, procedures and processes and provides all necessary support to the VCGM to facilitate and drive KBZ’s strategy of achieving nationwide financial inclusion.
  • Defines and develop the overall framework for ALM operations in order to ensure compliance to establish guidelines and safeguard of interest-cum-liquidity from ALCO perspective
  • Evaluates interest rate and liquidity risks of the banking book on a periodic basis using leading edge analytical tools to ensure appropriate funding to strengthen bank’s operations
  • Tracks market & regulatory developments and assesses market trends, macroeconomic factors to make sound decisions focused on matching assets and liabilities
  • Creates and maintains a Funds Transfer Pricing methodology on an on-going basis which should consider international / domestic developments whist also ensuring consistency the bank’s overall strategic business and economic objectives
  • Guides the funding strategy and maximizes opportunities on the bank’s money market desk to ensure maintenance of a healthy and diversified balance sheet for the bank
  • Forecasts interest rates, leads position on that basis, manages assets and liabilities and maximizes on arbitrage opportunities in order to maximize profit returns
  • Liaises with Risk and Finance for coordinating all matters pertaining to establishments of guidelines and limits governing ALM transactions.
  • Monitor and manage IRRBB (including gap, basis and option risks) and credit spread risk. Undertake continual analysis of the balance sheet, leading to recommendations on strategic hedges to ALCO to protect and enhance the bank’s NIM and overall finance performance
  • Leads the team responsible for impact analysis of business line product pricing proposals on NIM and liquidity / funding positions (especially large ticket projects) in the new product process
  • Define the base market risk characteristics of all fixed and non-fixed rates products to ensure risks and client profitability are correctly measured and captured
  • Identify and support the necessary requirements of Front Office team with BAUs and new products development.
  • Defines goals and key performance indicators for each member of the team and ensure effective implementation of the bank’s performance management process
  • Develops talent within the team by providing coaching to achieve defined goals
